Before you continue on to the application on the next page, I wanted to use this first page to introduce JCWIFI to you to give you a better understanding of who we are and what we are about. Yes, I am selling our company to you, but more importantly, I want to make sure we are a good fit for you and vice versa (page 2). It usually takes months to train a new employee, so it is important that you are happy with your choice. My hope is this page will give you enough information to determine if our company is a good fit for you in the long term.

It is important to me that all people working in JCWIFI enjoy getting up in the morning and coming to work.

We offer varied and very interesting work

Scott Piehn

JCWIFI Manager

Computer Dynamics of NW IL LLC

JCWIFI background- Northwest Illinois Preferred Internet Provider, locally owned by Jay Butson, successfully operating for 17 years in providing Internet service, including the more rural locations. We began by saving a failing Wireless ISP with the purchase of its infrastructure and 20 customers. Within the first week, all routers and servers failed, creating the need and opportunity to totally rebuild the entire network from scratch. Starting with those 20 customers, JCWIFI has grown to over 4500 customers covering over 3500 square miles of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Computer Dynamics Background – Computer Dynamics is our Parent Company, locally owned by Jay Butson, successfully operating for 38 years in providing computer, digital and IT technology service and solutions to businesses and individuals.

With 38 years of success, Jay Butson, who owns and started both companies, is still the owner today of our Freeport Illinois location at 451 W South Street, Freeport IL 61032. These companies are very financially secure.

Job training very few people have a background in WISP operations.  With that in mind, JCWIFI looks for field people with stills that are complementary to WISP specific knowledge.  Skills such as carpentry/construction, basic electrical, low voltage, etc.  New staff travels with a skilled technician for months to learn job specific skills.

Equipment provided all necessary tools, safety equipment, and vehicle for the job assignment are provided by JCWIFI

Work Attire – Store at your expense casual, t-shirts and/or polos with company logo are provided

Work Attire – Field – at your expense casual as well as cold weather gear, t-shirts and/or polos with company logo are provided. For tower people, work boots with hard soles and steel toes are preferred, but not required. For Client-side field staff, soft soled shoes are better at gripping roofs. Pants – blue jeans or work pants, just no holes

Ongoing training and certification – any and all webinars and or trainings required for certifications (ex: Tower Climbing). Any training to better skills will be evaluated. In the winter, all staff is brought into the office for training/share information on how tasks are accomplished allowing consistency across the JCWIFI network.

Starting Pay – based on the skills and experience at the time of hiring

General Work Day – In general, JCWIFI staff work 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day (beginning at 8:00 am (tower) or 8:30 a.m. (field and store); on occasion may vary based on job assignment). On weekends and/or after hours, you may be asked to handle an on-site service call received by our AfterHours customer support. During the summer months, field staff typically work 2-10 hours of overtime each week.

After hours Customer Support – JCWIFI has after hours support for its customers. This is performed by calls transferred to staff cell phone. The staff member is typically at home for this process. In the event a service call is needed, an available field technician is dispatched at standard time/overtime. The after-hours field process is informal as store and field staff make casual conversation during the week and the on-call person is aware of who has what happening during the weekend.

Retirement – JCWIFI will match 100% of employee contribution up to 3% of employee’s contribution into a 401K retirement plan that the employee controls.

Vacation time – Time off starts to accrue from day one. After the first year, time off is issued. Additional vacation time based on number of years worked. There are two weeks a year (last week of July, first week of August) that time off is not permitted due to the potential for large storms. Other than those two weeks, it is rare that time off is not approved. Management will grant time off even when it is hard on the company so that when staff is needed in an emergency, they are available.

Growth: Computer Dynamics/JCWIFI has always grown adding more employees as the company grows. When we make a commitment to you, we take that very seriously

Feed back from current employees on how they would describe JCWIFI to a potential new higher.

Pay is above average

Good coworkers

Good atmosphere

Small company – we have 12 people as of 2021

-Come see the earth from a different view (this applies to tower climbers mostly. They get some of the best views)

Communication with staff – As a smaller company, we work as a team. Communication between employees is encouraged. We have a weekly, all staff division meeting where any employee can bring up any item for discussion. Ie, open floor

Steady hours – Start and stop times are pretty well fixed providing a consistent 40 hours per week year-round. There are times, particularly during the summer where over time is greatly encouraged with staff vacations and busy workload.

Stable work environment

Essential business: JCWIFI was in full operation + for 2020. Most of our store staff worked from home and we adjusted field staff schedules to offset start/stop times. For field staff, JCWIFI implemented contact-less installations where we didn’t have to go into the customers house to hook up Internet. All field staff were provided with face masks, hand sanitizer, and wipes to clean any tool, surfaces, etc. Daily sanitization of high contact surfaces was performed in the office for the limited staff needed in the office for continued operation.

Paycheck clears: As a small business, this can be an issue. The bi-weekly paychecks ALWAYS clear.

Employee feedback is encouraged and implemented: JCWIFI was built from the ground up by us. We are always looking for a better way to accomplish a job and welcome new ideas from employees on how to do that.

Everyone drives a nice car: The employee that mention this, commented on when he started, he noticed everyone has a nice car. To him that meant stability and good pay

Financial security – employees are comfortable in making long term purchases.
